The main function of the photovoltaic controller
is to charge or discharge the batteries (lead-acid batteries or gel batteries) in our off-grid system. A high-quality photovoltaic controller must have multiple guarantee functions.
Five functions of photovoltaic controller
1. Battery overvoltage protection
When the battery voltage reaches the overvoltage point, the controller will automatically suspend the high current charging of the battery to avoid damage to the battery due to overcharging.
2. Battery overheating protection
The controller detects the temperature of the battery according to the temperature sensor, if it exceeds 65 degrees, the controller suspends charging the battery. It will automatically resume work when it is less than 55°.
3. Lightning protection
This controller only protects the lightning with less energy. In the area of repeated lightning, it is better to install an external lightning rod.
4. Battery over-discharge protection
When the battery voltage reaches the low voltage cut-off point, the controller will suspend the external power supply for the specific battery. After reaching the recovery point, resume work.
5. Load overload protection
If the load current exceeds the rated voltage of the controller, the controller will automatically alarm, if you reduce the power of the load, the photovoltaic controller will automatically resume work.
